    • Toggle the option to Enable commissions in documents.
  2. Select Commission Type:

    • Choose one of the four available commission calculation methods:
      • Percentage of Sell Price
      • Percentage of Margin
      • Sliding Scale on Sell Price
      • Sliding Scale on Margin

Key Considerations: How Commissions Are Calculated

  • Document-Level Calculation:
Commissions are calculated on the grand total of the document, not on individual products or services.

    • The grand total includes:
      • One-time amounts (e.g., hardware or setup fees).
      • Recurring amounts calculated as a single occurrence:
        • Monthly services are included as 1x the monthly amount.
        • Yearly services are included as 1x the yearly amount.
  • No Contract Period Consideration:
Commissions do not factor in billing or contract durations. For example:

    • If a document includes a monthly recurring service for 12 months at $100/month, only $100 (not $1,200) will be considered for commission calculation.

Types of Commissions and Examples

1. Percentage of Sell Price

Commissions are calculated as a percentage of the grand total of the document.

Example:
If the commission is set at 5% and the document total is $10,000:

  • Commission = 5% of $10,000 = $500

2. Percentage of Margin

Commissions are calculated as a percentage of the total margin (profit) on the document.

Example:
If the commission is set at 15% and the total margin for a document worth $10,000 is $4,000:

  • Commission = 15% of $4,000 = $600

3. Sliding Scale on Sell Price

Commissions are calculated at varying percentages of the document's sell price, based on the total profit margin percentage.

Example Sliding Scale:

  • For profit margins between 0% and 25%, the commission is 2.5% of the sell price.
  • For profit margins between 25% and 50%, the commission is 5%.
  • For profit margins between 50% and 75%, the commission is 7.5%.
  • For profit margins between 75% and 100%, the commission is 10%.

If the document's sell price is $12,000 and the profit margin is 25%:

  • Commission = 5% of $12,000 = $600

4. Sliding Scale on Margin

Commissions are calculated at varying percentages of the total margin (profit), based on the total profit margin percentage.

Example Sliding Scale:

  • For profit margins between 0% and 25%, the commission is 2.5% of the margin.
  • For profit margins between 25% and 50%, the commission is 5%.
  • For profit margins between 50% and 75%, the commission is 7.5%.
  • For profit margins between 75% and 100%, the commission is 10%.

If the total margin on the document is $3,000 and the profit margin is 25%:

  • Commission = 5% of $3,000 = $150

  • Track Commissions Across Opportunities:
Use the Opportunity Details view to monitor total commissions across active documents. This provides an accurate overview of performance for individual sales opportunities.

  • Regularly Review Commission Rules:
Keep your commission structures updated to align with business goals and incentive plans.

  • Leverage Reports for Visibility:
Use the built-in and custom reports to track and analyze commission performance across sales agents and time periods.

With Zomentum Grow’s flexible commission structure, you can align your sales incentives with business goals while maintaining clear visibility and accurate tracking of commissions.
