When products are synced from Zomentum to ConnectWise, certain behaviours related to duplicate product identifiers may occur. This is standard behaviour due to how Connectwise manages product identifiers during the sync process. Here’s what you need to know and what actions to take to prevent or resolve duplicate entries.
Key Points:
Product ID Duplication:
- If a product is created in Zomentum with a Product ID that already exists in ConnectWise, Connectwise appends "Copy0" to the identifier.
- If the Product Name in Zomentum is mapped to the Product ID in ConnectWise, and there are multiple products with the same name, the synced products in ConnectWise will also have the "Copy0" keyword added.
Manufacturer Part Number Duplication:
- If the Product ID in ConnectWise is mapped to the Manufacturer Part Number in Zomentum, and multiple products share the same Manufacturer Part Number, duplicates will be created in ConnectWise with "Copy0" appended to name.
Fallback to Product Name:
- If a product doesn’t have a Manufacturer Part Number, Zomentum will use the Product Name as the second identifier. If the Product Name matches any existing product with the same Product ID in ConnectWise, the new product will have “-Copy0” appended to its identifier.
What to Do in Such Cases:
Prevent Duplication:
- Check which field in Zomentum is mapped to the Product ID in ConnectWise. If duplicates are being created, the best approach is to rename the mapped field in Zomentum to ensure it has a unique value for each product.
Address Existing Duplicates:
- For products that have already been duplicated in ConnectWise, you have the option to either delete the duplicates or rename them directly in ConnectWise, depending on your preference.
Ensure Unique Identifiers:
- Always ensure the field mapped to the Product ID has a unique value for all products to avoid future duplication.
